Muddy tasting whole baked salmon

We have baked a huge whole wild salmon on the oven with dill and lemon and it tastes revolting.very muddy.I understand this can be due to it not being cleaned and gutted straight away. Now its baked is there any way we can lessen the "muddy" flavour.lemon zest or something.
