Freeze Cheese?

I've been given too much blue vein cheese to eat all at once. I've googled it but I'm none the wiser.

Can you freeze blue vein! Has anyone tried blue vein cheese after it's been frozen! If so, what was it like!

How much is too much! It keeps for weeks in the fridge.

Will freeze well but might be a bit crumbly after. Good for cooking tho

johnhb, have you checked the date(s) on the cheese!
As lilyfield has advised blue cheese keeps for weeks and weeks in the refrigerator and will certainly be ok until the date as shown on the cheese wrapper(s).IMO you should heed those date(s) and either use (or freeze) the cheese by the dates and this is particularly so if any of the cheese is creamy blue - I have found that it goes 'mushy' if kept past the date on the wrapper.:-))

Blue Cheese freezes fine.

Blue Cheese freezes fine. Remove from original wrapping, wrap tightly in plastic wrap then wrap in freezer paper (grease-proof paper) and place the wrapped cheese into a heavy duty freezer bag. Blue vein will keep indefinately in the freezer but tastes best when used within 6 months.

I second this.Don't eat it if a pink mould appears!
