Just purchased some vanilla beans and dutch cocoa off trade me.OMG smells divine. I've never used vanilla beans before. Have made some vanilla sugar and some bikkies. What tips have you got or how do you use your vanilla beans! Your input appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How about making vanilla extract. Split the vanilla beans, and place in jar with some vodka. Seal and leave for a couple of months, shaking every now and again. I started some in january and can't wait to use it. Apparently when you use some you just top up the jar with vodka.

Im stingy with vanilla bean.after i scraped n used the bean in cooking, i wash the pod, dry it ontop of the oven while baking and then chuck in with my sugar.and keep reusing until the smell is gone. Then i blend it with my sugar.
