I am serving twenty people on Friday night. I want to put mushrooms on the BBQ and top with blue cheese.
They will be the mushrooms which are about the size of the palm of your hand. How much cheese would you buy(per mushroom, or in total for around 25 mushrooms)

duckmoon, IMO it depends how generous you want to be with the cheese quantity per mushroom and also how strong the blue cheese is but for 25 mushrooms of the size you describe I'd be inclined to have 3 or 4 wedges on hand.We love blue cheese so it would be no problem to use whatever is leftover but I would rather have a wedge or so leftover than run short when there will no doubt be plenty to do without a rushed trip to the shops.

I think to make the blue cheese go further, I'd chuck some fresh bread into the food processor, add some melted butter, a little S&P and a wedge of blue then whizz altogether and use this to top the mushrooms.They'd be great under the grill too.
