I use lard in my pizza dough.

you could just leave the oil out and follow the recipe you have or replace the oil with butter maybe!

Just don't use it.Provided you are going to eat it straight away, you probably won't even notice.

We use the juice from the bottle of olives that goes on top and that adds extra flavour and a bit of liquid.play around with different liquids and experiement.

You just make normal bread dough. Why oil!

Because Italian pizza dough uses lard lythande1 - and since lard is no more "fashionable" to eat - people add soy bean oil or whatever other cheap seed oil is available.

Personally I use lard (as do the Italians) - or if I have none because I fried my potatoes in the lovely stuff and I have to wait for the next hog to "produce" more . then I use olive oil.

But do not use anything else as the result will not be the same.

And if you just want to make a "bread dough" as you suggested above then use just flour, yeast, salt and water and let it ferment COLD (covered) in the fridge for a day or two before you use it. Tastes better than "instant" dough - but will not bake up as nice as anything with lard.
