Are there any vegetarian parmesan cheeses available! I had a quick look at supermarket but most had rennet and a few said 'enzyme' but I wasnt sure what 'enzyme' was (if it was another word for rennet) Thanks

hkm11, you might be interested to know also that (Countdown) Woolworth's Homebrand 1kg cheddar blocks have no animal rennet in them.There's no need to buy an expensive brand of 'vegetarian' cheddar.

Is rennet made from mibeocrs genetically modified? I'm making my first batch of cottage cheese (my first cheese ever) and I'm trying to get a handle on rennets. I'm going to order some dried rennet from the cheesemaker per your suggestion, thank you!
