Plum Jam

Finally the long wait is over, the first batch of Plum Jam is on the stove. Our tree takes ages to ripen and then its a race with the birds but hoping for a few jars this year, I should get 10 or 12 from this batch and hoping for a couple more batches so should be a good year.

I use recycled jam jars pickle jars etc etc

Went to Boarding School for two years & every afternoon tea we got Plum jam for our bread. Have never eaten since. Enjoy!

10 large jars, good timing as I have been called away on the boat for 3 days so its Plum jam on toast at sea for breakfast :)

Here's a hint to keep the birds off your tree.

Hang used CD's or DVD's in the tree. they need to be able to swing freely, so be sure not to have them lying up against a branch. Also, if you drill a wee hole at the top and attach a fishing swivel to the CD, then some thread, they will turn with the slightest breeze. they need to be able to move to scare the birds. You need about ten to a tree, but as many as you have is better than none.
