Hi elliehen! Happy new year to you. Just wanting to let you know the Xmas cake from Aldi is lovely. Very very moist almost like a pudding. About the only comment really I could say is maybe it could do with a little more spice or brandy etc flavourings as I like my Xmas cake to be very rich in flavour. I may 'spike'the other one with a little brandy to give it a wee lift. Overall it is lovely tho and definitely a 'have again'. I haven't tried the fruit mince pies of the same brand tho yet - haven't been able to face them after all the rich food over Xmas!

I would have to agree with you about it needing a 'spike'.Now having it second year in a row, the novelty factor is gone and I am more critical.I will do as you suggest and put some brandy on the second one that we haven't cut into yet.I once spiked a fruit cake with Stone's Green Ginger wine when I didn't have any brandy :)
