Can we buy this in new Zealand!

kiwitrish, Dec 16, 9:28pm
No, I don't think we can.Our cream is 35% fat where Double cream is about 40 to 45%.

could thickened cream be the same!

Thickened cream has an additive like gelatine in it, but would work.I just use normal whipping cream.

I personally think that you're just better off with our standard 35% fat cream over thickened - the latter has a whole lot of additives and doesn't taste so good IMO.It's not really intended for cooking with either - its more so that you don't have to whip the cream yourself, can use it as a topping etc. straight out of the tub

hmm, recipe calls for both single and double cream, i might check out nosh and see if they stock or find another recipe

Do they end up mixed together or are they in separate components of the dish!Because if they were mixed together it would average out to our 35% cream anyway, given that single cream is 18% fat and double cream is 48%
