Have people coming for dinner tomorrow night. What time should I put the mulled wine on in our crockpot?

Would it be better done in a pot on the stove?

past posting Mull wined crock pot Prepare it ahead of time to allow flavours to mingle.
1 Cup Sugar 1 1/2 cups boiling water 1 cinnamon stick 6 whole cloves 4 cups red wine 1/4 cup brandy 1 lemon thinly sliced
Preheat crock-pot for 20 minutes Combine the sugar and water in crock-pot and stir until sugar is dissolved Add cinnamon stick, cloves, wine, brandy and lemon Cover with lid and cook on low / auto for 3-4 hours or on high for 1-2 hours. The mixture must not boil. Turn crock-pot to low / auto and serve hot from the crock-pot.
