l know my mother used to make this. never turned out the same, either was a sponge or shortcake. Base was the sponge or shortcake with bananas cut lengthwise Topping 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1tsp cinnamon, 1/4 cup flour mixed together and sprinkled on top of base. Anyone know of recipe l would be grateful.Cheers

Banana and Raspberry Jam Shortcake (or desired filling)
4ozs flour 1egg 4oz cornflour 1 raised tsp baking powder 4oz butter 1Tblsp sugar Sift flour, cornflour and BP together. Rub in the butter. Beat egg and sugar together, then mix into dry ingredients. Knead on floured board, cut dough in half, roll out one piece and place on cold greased tray. Fill with sliced bananas and spread with raspberry jam. Cover with other half. Brush over with milk and bake 30 minutes moderate oven……Sprinkle with icing sugar and serve with whipped cream
