This is the one I make and is soft in the middle.
In a bowl put 2 tbsp yeast, 1 tbsp sugar, salt, 2 tbsp flour and approx 2 cups warm water. Leave for 10 minutes till frothy. Add 4 cups of flour and knead. Pat out into a square and cut in to pieces. Deep fry.Success! Recipe worked well, a huge pile of fluffy frybread in my kitchen right now.{ Nola made this and it was great} this was a recipie that was posted on here a while ago ,its great you'll have to make sum to try it out for yourself...yum

Recipe:2
3 Cups warm water, 3 Tbs dried yeast, 3 Tbs sugar
then when yeast has a nice frothy head, add to:
5 Cups flour, 5 Tbs Sugar
Knead and cut, fry in oil.
Delicious, soft, puffy as heck and golden brown, no crispy shell

If you make an ordinary bread dough as per the instructions on the yeast pack, you will allow it one or two rises. Then roll it out, cut into shapes & fry in hot oil.
