Are the recipes interchangeable ? Can I use a muffin recipe to make a cake or vice versa or do they need to be modified?

It has always amused me when I hear people saying they have made muffins and just used a banana cake (or something else) recipe and somehow they instantly turned into muffins. The texture between cake and muffins is quite different to me. But I too could be wrong.

bappy, yes you can use cake recipe in muffin cases, just watch your cooking time as they will cook quicker, and if you have a nice muffin recipe yes you can bake it in a cake tin if you do just use a skewer to test when cooked.

yes - i use a banana loaf mixture for my muffins and they are perfect. just less time
