Did any one hear this programme where Allison was talking about meat loaf and the next presenter was talking about how she made meat loaf... . . Any one catch the details.

I did hear it, the meatloaf recipe sounded like something Nanna would bake. Sausage meat and mince with packet goop there was some grated veg in it though zuccini and carrot I think. I also saw the interview on telly where the reporter took Allisons meatloaf to Meatloaf the singer who wouldn't eat it because he's a vegetarian now that was funny.

Is this the one?
Serves 6 - 8)

Ingredients
About 500g minced beef
About 500g sausage meat
1 medium sized carrot, grated or finely chopped
About a cup of finely grated or chopped green vegetables (see below)
1 finely chopped or grated , medium sized onion
1 x 45g packet of tomato soup mix

Method
Turn an oven to 180 C with a rack in the middle, and line a roasting pan with baking paper or a non-stick Teflon liner; or turn your slow cooker on to High or Low, spray it with non-stick spray, and have a non-stick liner or a piece of folded baking paper for a “sling” in which the loaf can be lowered into the slow cooker (and in which it will cook).

Mix the ingredients for this loaf in a large mixing bowl or in a large, unpunctured plastic bag. Put tablespoon-sized blobs of the mince in the bowl or bag.

Slit the tube of sausage meat with a sharp knife or scissors, then lift the covering away from the sausage meat under a gently running cold tap. Put blobs of the sausagemeat in with the mince.

Grate or finely chop in a food processor, one or several green vegetables such as zucchini, celery stalks and inner leaves, or some cabbage or silverbeet leaves, etc, and add this mixture and the chopped onion to the meat.

Sprinkle the dry soup mix over everything else, then mix everything together thoroughly. If you have everything in a bag you can “squish it all together without getting your hands messy. With wet hands, shape the mixture into an oval loaf shape, and put this onto the liner or the baking paper.

For extra colour you can brush the slow-cooking loaf with dark soy sauce before it starts to cook, or with tomato sauce towards the end of the cooking time.

If you like you can cook smallish chunks of vegetables around the baked or slow-cooked loaves. Add them at the start of the cooking time.

Bake at 180 C for about 45 minutes OR slow-cook the loaf on HIGH for about 4 hours or on LOW for about 8 hours.
