Defrosting a whole rump to cook this weekend but need some ideas...can I cut it into steaks or is it best cooked whole - and if so how? Like roast beef??

Rump is normally grilled like a steak round here...some say it's tough, but ours is usually melt in your mouth

Agree - and the other half that's not eaten chopped up small for cottage pie the next night. Keep any left over gravy for this too

Try this one; rub it in whole seed mustard, dash of horseradish and garlic. or a packet of "french onion" soup mix. Not quite as tender as some other cuts so use a roasting bag, cook until pink, and allow to "rest" before carving. I use these mixes on a lot of beef roasts, it's really tasty.
