yes muslin cloth, have just looked in my mums old old book and for guava jelly it says strain through a flannel bag. Here is the old recipe - 2 quarts of red guavas, 2 lemons.Remove tops from guavas and cut up all the fruit.Put into preserving pan and cover well with water.Simmer for 2 hours.then strain through flannel bag.Allow 1 cup sugar to 1 cup of liquid.bring juice to the boil, add warmed sugar and boil till it will set when tested.

I wonder what 2 quarts red guavas is equal to.

Jills 1 quart is 2 pints, 1 pint is 600ml so approx 2.4 litres for 2 quarts. darlingmole muslin cloth is recommended but you can use clean chux cloth or an old pillow case - a good idea to boil them first to keep things sterile. Lucky you with guava.
